VCA Animal Hospitals Highlights Associate and Client Care, Innovation and Community Support in 2020 Impact Report, Paving the Way for the Future of Veterinary Medicine

LOS ANGELES, June 24, 2021 / PRNewswire / – VCA Animal Hospitals today released its third annual impact report, entitled “Take care and continue “ – highlighting the company’s commitment to creating a better world for pets ™ in a year of uncertainty and change. The report highlights the impact of the business – across the 4.2 million pets supported by VCA Associates in 2020, our 30,000+ Associates and the communities served by VCA.

After a year of transformation, VCA’s 2020 Impact Report summarizes the company’s progress in three key areas: supporting associates, innovating in veterinary care, and feeding our world and communities.

Support for Partners.

This past year has showcased the deep dedication and compassion of VCA’s more than 30,000 associates as they adapted, overcome and cared for more than four million pets in 2020. In the same time, VCA has worked hard to improve their lives at work, at home and everywhere in between, including through:

  • Help associates affected by the pandemic through the creation of a Better Together fund, and increase in compensation and benefits help Associates respond to and recover from natural disasters;
  • Expansion mental health, financial and well-being supporting Associates through VCA’s Total Rewards package and a range of new programs such as reducing Associate health expenses and increasing 401 (k) contributions; and
  • Strengthening an ongoing commitment to Inclusion, equity and diversity by introducing formal and sustainable initiatives, such as partnerships with industry groups that put diversity first, including PrideVMC, the National Association of Black Veterinarians and many others.

In partnership with VCA charities, the association founded by VCA in 2005, VCA strives to increase its impact and reach out every year to help as many pets as possible. In a year when it was more important than ever to give back to communities, VCA and VCA Charities raised funds for COVID-19 relief, provided free veterinary services, medicine, food and financial support for the animals of company in need, and supported the welfare of several animal organizations across the country with grants and vital resources.

Highlights of these efforts include:

  • High near $ 1 million for relief from COVID-19;
  • Supported 150,000 pets post-adoption with our animal protection and housing program;
  • Established the HOPE Fund Program, which contributes to the cost of vital veterinary care for owners of animals who meet the financial requirements; and
  • Free free boarding assistance for pets that have been displaced by wildfires across the United States

Innovative veterinary care.

As COVID-19 spread, VCA quickly pivoted to ensure continuity of care and the safety of hospital teams, patients and clients. Social distancing rules, the introduction of curbside visits and contactless support have offered safer and more convenient alternatives to hospital care. The change translates into an increase in customer demand for digital; nearly 48,000 customers used virtual services in 2020, an increase of 165% over last year.

In 2020, VCA also made substantial investments in advanced medical technologies for companion animals, including stereotaxic radiation therapy devices that help eliminate the need for manual and invasive brain surgeries. Innovations like this are needed to improve the ability of stroke specialists to provide safer and often cheaper treatments that extend the best lives of patients.

Other care and innovation highlights include:

  • Eleven million SMS were sent between Associates and families, a 57 percent increase since last year.
  • VCA Live Chat users increased by 144 percent.
  • Debuted new video series entitled “Ask for VCA.
