Upcoming Cleveland-area Red Cross blood drives

CLEVELAND, OH – The Red Cross and other blood donor organizations are working to bolster the nation’s blood supply as the pandemic subsides.

Those who donate blood, platelets or plasma through the Red Cross in May will have a chance to win a five-person Suburban Propane travel trailer. The Red Cross will also be giving out a t-shirt to donors between May 28 and June 13, while supplies last.

Actor James Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly are urging people to donate blood this summer. Kimberly Van Der Beek has needed blood transfusions over the past year after suffering consecutive pregnancy losses.

“Donating blood is something that I have always done throughout my life,” said James Van Der Beek. “It seemed important to me. But I never knew how important it was until the woman I love most found herself in a situation where so much blood made the difference between life and death. It just brought her home in a very real way. ”
