Frank Destadio, the former chairman of the Peachtree Town Planning Commission for more than four years and currently serving as Commissioner for almost ten years, has announced his intention to run for Peachtree City Council.
“If elected by the citizens of PTC, my primary goal would be to be an advocate for the citizens of PTC and to listen to your concerns. In addition, I am convinced that the City must do more to attract and retain a strong and diverse workforce. Attracting a skilled workforce is vital to the future of our city, ”said Frank.
Frank and his 51-year-old wife, Sandi, have four daughters, the youngest of whom graduated from McIntosh HS in 2002. They have seven grandchildren, five of whom live in the greater Atlanta area.
Frank is a retired Air Force Colonel where he served as a Civil Engineer for nearly 30 years in locations across the United States and abroad, including Germany, Hawaii and Israel. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in systems management from the University of Southern California. He is a proven and dynamic leader with nearly 45 years of engineering and management experience.
Frank and Sandi are members of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church where Frank is an Usher and Minister Extraordinary of Holy Communion, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, having held all positions, including the Grand Knight.
He has been a member of Post 50 of the PTC American Legion for 14 years. He volunteers at Ashley Glen Senior Living and Memory Care Facility, where he runs a weekly men’s group for male residents so they have something specific they can participate in as a group.
Frank has also been a Citizen Volunteer on the Fayette County Water Committee for the past five years, where his extensive knowledge of water and wastewater engineering has been invaluable.
Finally, he belongs to several professional organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Chi Epsilon; the National Engineering Honors Society and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) of which he is a life member and member of the Academy.
Frank clearly has a strong desire to serve his community and is eager to become a PTC board member because he is committed to preserving the quality of life in Peachtree City, both now and in the future.
He will bring to the Council his solid knowledge of the questions of town planning and zoning of the city, acquired over the years within our town planning commission. He firmly believes in the concept on which our beautiful city was founded, the concept of a village.
He also understands that the missteps, over the years, by many city councils, have caused problems such as increased traffic jams, an ever-increasing number of housing developments and continued pressure from developers to change ordinances. of zoning of our city. He has the leadership skills and experience to make the right decisions now, in order to preserve our quality of life.
