PJTSAU will host the 5th International Congress of Agronomy from today

The five-day congress will define new strategies to address emerging challenges through agricultural research.

The Fifth International Congress of Agronomy (IAC), jointly organized by the Indian Society of Agronomy New Delhi and Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), will be inaugurated on Tuesday.

The five-day congress, whose theme will be “Agro-innovations to tackle food and nutritional challenges”, to be held on the state university campus, will define new strategies to address emerging challenges through research. agronomic.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, ISA President and PJTSAU Vice Chancellor V. Praveen Rao said the symposium would deliberate on 13 concerns, from a local to international perspective, to provide specific policy guidance to central and state governments.

Internationally renowned practitioners such as Dr Rattan Lal, winner of the World Food Prize 2020, Professor JJ Volenec of the American Society of Agronomy, Professor PV Vara Prasad of the Crop Science Society of America and Dr Jacqueline from ICRISAT’s Arros Hughes, in addition to experts from the Indian Agricultural Research Council (ICAR) and various national and state institutes, will meet for a dialogue on the state of innovation and the challenges of sector.

Mr. Rao said that sub-themes such as integrated agriculture, organic agriculture, secondary agriculture and farmer prosperity, and the farmer-scientist interface, were considered according to the specific needs of the ‘State.

And themes such as agronomic education, technologies, innovations, big data for smart agriculture, management of biotic and abiotic stresses and climate resilience were contemporary concerns in all regions.

The conference would see the physical participation of approximately 500 researchers, scientists, industry experts and policy makers, in addition to 600 registered virtual participants from around the world.

CRIDA Director and ISA Secretary Vinod Kumar Singh and R. Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research at PJTSAU, said the congress will feature contributory articles and posters, recognition of top research and visits from experimental fields and research institutes in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. .
