GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCBD) – The Town of Goose Creek on Tuesday announced the first two beneficiaries and borrowers of their small business loan program known as “Kickstart the Creek.”
Turning Page Bookshop and Acute Heating and Cooling both say this loan allows them to stay afloat and grow their business despite the challenges they faced amid the pandemic.
The program is made possible through the Charleston LDC, where people affected by the pandemic within the city limits of Goose Creek can apply.
For Acute Heating and Cooling – the business run by husband and wife – revolving loans mean they can continue to serve other families, as well as their own.
It is sometimes extremely difficult to obtain traditional financing from banks, ”said Octavia Edwards, co-owner of Acute Heating & Cooling. “Having this starter program, Kickstart the Creek, provides the help we need; it was very instrumental.
There is still funding available for those who qualify. Loan amounts range from $ 2,500 to $ 25,000 and borrowers must be located within city limits.
An applicant must qualify with both the City and LDC through a typical loan review process and be able to demonstrate (using financial records) the impacts of COVID-19 on their business operations from March 1, 2020 or later.
