Guests were treated to tours of the Southfields Multi-Disciplinary Reference Centre, while members of the 14 specialist-led services were also on hand to speak to visitors.

Special guest Nick said he was impressed with the quality of Southfields new center.

He said: “It was a privilege to be able to visit Southfields and to see the new hospital.

“As someone heavily involved in the animal world, I fully recognize the importance of vets and the work they do.

“There is no doubt that this is an incredibly impressive animal hospital and I had the pleasure of being able to say a few words as part of the official opening event.”

Linnaeus chief executive Bart Johnson and Southfields hospital manager Daniel Hogan joined presenter and author Nick to address the audience.

Daniel said the event was a great opportunity to introduce referring colleagues to the new state-of-the-art hospital, while thanking his team for their efforts.

He added: “It was great to see so many people accepting our offer to travel to the new hospital and the event was a fantastic way to officially mark our opening.

“I was delighted to be able to welcome Nick to Southfields and show him around our amazing new facilities.

“He was very impressed with what he saw and it was a good boost for the team to see him.

“Everyone worked incredibly hard to bring this ambitious project to fruition.

“From the support of Mars and Linnaeus, to the team rolling up their sleeves to help cross the line, it really has been a huge effort.

“The event was a fantastic way to mark our grand opening and I want to thank everyone who came out that night.”

The new state-of-the-art Southfields Hospital has seven operating theatres, 16 consulting rooms, recovery rooms, conference rooms, a dedicated intensive care unit, as well as plans for a future hydrotherapy suite.

The facilities also include a state-of-the-art imaging suite, comprehensive treatment facilities and a new linear accelerator to support the hospital’s world-renowned oncology team.
