Yong Chen, PhD, associate professor of biostatistics, won a Titan Prize 2021 for methodological research of the Observational Health Data Sciences & Informatics program, based at Columbia University. The Methodological Research Award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the development or evaluation of analytical methods for clinical characterization, population-level effects estimation or patient-level prediction. Chen’s research focuses on integrating fundamental statistical principles into quantitative methods to address key challenges of modern biomedical data.
Alessandra Chesi, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, was named one of 11 recipients of a 2021 Genomic Innovator Award of the National Institute for Research on the Human Genome. These awards support the highly innovative work of early-career researchers who have âgreat potential to accelerate future genomics research.Chesi’s research aims to identify causal variants and target genes for neurodegenerative and brain-related disorders.
